Zurich Airport
With 20 to 30 million passengers, Zurich Airport is the largest airport in Switzerland. It serves as a hub for several airlines and is the home airport for Swiss, Edelweiss Air and Helvetic Airways.
In 2021, the airport received for the 19th time the World Travel Award in the category "Europe's Leading Airport" for the second time in a row and is one of the ten best airports in the world.
Project requirements
The difficulty with this project was to limit disruption during the extensive construction work as much as possible. Divided into three project sections, 26 existing check-in terminals were dismantled at the beginning and put back into operation in a temporary check-in area.
As a result, we built 104 new check-in terminals including collection and conveyor belts. After a total project duration of four years, between 2011 and 2015, operations at Zurich Airport were able to run smoothly again with the connection and integration to the existing conveyor technology.
