With over 10 million passengers (2015) and connections to around 100 destinations worldwide, Stuttgart is the sixth largest airport in Germany. It is an important factor for the region's economy and, with 9,500 employees, an important employer.

One of the biggest challenges in this project was the combination of conveyor technology and steel construction, since the entire platform on the mezzanine level of the baggage distribution system - with an area of 1,500 m² and a total weight of 100 tons - had to be suspended from the ceiling. However, we gladly accepted the challenge and were able to implement the project on time to the complete satisfaction of our customer, as Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Jürgen Keller, project and maintenance management, Stuttgart Airport confirms:

Project details

• Modification of the baggage distribution in Terminals 1 and 2
• Belt conveyor system of approx. 700m, individually adapted to the circumstances
• Use of various ejection elements such as vertical distributors, baggage deflectors and baggage lifters
• Steel construction with approx. 100 tons, including a stage with an area of 1,500 m², completely suspended from the ceiling
